Religion and Support for Terror. According to this survey, religious people—and especially white evangelicals—are the group most likely to support the use of torture. Religiously unaffiliated people are least likely.

"Top Secret America." A massive story in the Washington Post, based on two years of research by twelve reporters. It discusses the growth of the intelligence community after 9/11. Includes extensive interviews with current and previous high-level directors and managers of intelligence programs. Discusses the problems of such a massive beauracracy, and whether it really makes Americans any safer.

"Buying the War." Bill Moyer's Journal special program on the failure of the major media to cover the run up to the War in Iraq. The entire show in either Real audio or Windows Media Player.
Camus, Albert, "Neither Victim nor Executioner." Camus fought in the French Resistance. After it was over, he found himself drawn to pacifism. This essay, published in the French press, explains why.
